Here we go, it’s May!  In District 6, we’ve been faithfully playing a couple times a month all winter and spring.  Sometimes it seems as if the jams and meetings are all that is holding us together with all the changes in our society.  It’s sure nice to have a schedule of events to look forward to in which we play music together and get to catch up with each other.  We have a core group of people who come to most every jam and there are others who come when they can.  It’s great to have everyone.

Our first Saturday meeting/jam in April was enjoyable as always.  We had a small group before lunch, including Tyler, Katie and Katie’s great nephew, Carter who was visiting from Indiana.  Tyler brought his bass and Carter did a nice job keeping us all on the beat with easily heard bass notes.  Chiara, Maria and Michael Harris rounded out the group as well as the regulars, Kathy, Bernie, Earl and Roy and Clayton.  Greg and I were there as well.  Everyone got to choose quite a few songs before lunch.  We had a great lunch which included barbequed pork from Roy and many other tasty treats brought by the rest of us.  It’s so nice of Roy to bring the main dish most months.  Also, Kathy usually brings some tasty treats that she bakes in the oven.  We eat really good food!  Shawna and Cici, and Emma showed up for lunch and stayed for the second half of the jam.  This was a  really busy weekend so we were glad people came for as long as they could.  What a great group of people we have here in District 6!  Here are a few pictures of this jam.

The jam at the end of April was enjoyable as well.  A family who has attended several times, Matt and Brayde let their  kids sing some songs in front of the microphones.  We also loaned Cora a fiddle to fit her and Chiara (also a recent addition to District 6) will teach her to play.  Emery (the younger daughter) got a harmonica to play with and had fun playing along with the music.   So far, they haven’t met Shawna’s younger kids, Emma and Cici but we are hoping they will meet sometime soon.  They are in the same age group and would probably enjoy having other kids at the jam.  This was a good group of musicians and we all had a nice time.  Here are some pictures. (one of the pictures shows the kids trying out the fiddle and harmonica)
