Howdy~
District 5 is enjoying all the buzzzz about the upcoming fiddle camp and looking forward to seeing many of you there. Sign up, bring friends and have a good time. We’re eager to have some warm weather, sunshine and longer days.
The observances for May are many…May Day, Mother’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day and various appreciations for teachers, nurses, EMS and Pets! May is National Pet Month with Be Kind to Animals Week being the first full week in May. Got pet tunes? We have a few favorites….
- Sadie at the Backdoor, Granny Will Your Dog Bite, Cat On a Leash, Old Grey Cat, Spotted Dog, and Dogs in the Dishes. Flop Eared Mule, Pig Ankle Rag, Chicken Reel, Cluck Old Hen and Chicken Under the Wash Tub round out the barnyard tunes. (BTW, May 14th is Dance Like a Chicken Day) We’ve recently been playing around with Frog Heaven by Vivian Williams, a fun tune named for a marshy meadow in Mt. Rainier National Park. I’m sure frogs would be considered pets by many.
In May, we are still Jamming Every Tuesday 1-4pm, but will only be at Silverdale Mall the First and Third Tuesday and return to the Barn in Belfair at the Hood Canal Salmon Center, 600 NE Roessel Rd for every second, fourth and any fifth Tuesday until September. The barn is only a shelter so dress accordingly for weather and temperature. Stop by, take a hike before or after the jam and visit their farm animals and gardens. Please come join us!
