Happy May, everyone. It’s been a bit of a relief to have a few more days of sun in April than we did in March. Also the warmer temperatures and more light more of the day has been a welcome change.
During our first meeting/jam in April, we enjoyed a nice group of regulars and even a first time attendee. We hope she returns when she can so we can remember her name. She was really enjoyable to play music with! (I just don’t remember names too well if I don’t write them down, sorry.) Our meeting was nice and short and lunch was yummy. It’s always great to stop for lunch and catch up with people. Here are some pictures:
Our jam on the 26th was a small, intimate affair and was great fun. We had a small group of people and everyone got to pick lots of songs. We experimented with taking improvised breaks which turned out pretty good, especially Michael Burns and Chuck. Go Guys! Cici has really improved since we last saw her and it was really fun to back her up. She’s gaining confidence and having more fun playing her violin. We all had a nice time and everyone brought something unique and interesting to the jam. We really had fun making music together. Here are some pictures from this jam also:
Remember that we are winding down our events until our break for the summer. Our upcoming events are as follows:
- Sat. May 3rd, bonus jam, 1 – 4 pm
- Sat. June 7th, bonus jam, 1 – 4 pm
- BREAK FOR THE SUMMER
- Sat, September 6th, meeting/jam, 11 am – 4 pm
- Sat, September 27th, jam, 1 -4 pm
If you need more information about these events, just look on the WOTFA.org website.
We’ve added new playdates to the previous ones which we continue throughout the summer. Thanks to everyone who has faithfully played at these retirement homes for many years. Also, thanks for continuing to volunteer your time and talents to play now.
One last item. Fiddle camp is just a couple of months away! Like last year, it will be held at the Chelan County Expo Center and it will run from Monday, July 28th to Friday, August 1st. This is a great time to spend with members of WOFTA from all over the state and learn how to better play your chosen instrument. Registration is currently open and all the information is on the WOTFA.org website. Check it out.
Keep up the music in your hearts and in your days with practice or jamming. Questions or comments, email me at timbuktoe@yahoo.com
