Happy August! It seems like summer is going fast, but it’s been fun so far.
Our June bonus jam was a hit in part because it was Emma’s birthday. The family brought a cake to share and everyone sang and played for her 6th birthday. Also, Bernie has been making violins and brought the latest one for Bella (Emma’s older sister) to play. She played it throughout the day. I’m sure that Bernie enjoyed the fact that he made a violin that sounded so good that she wanted to keep playing it! There was a good turnout for this last jam before the summer break and everyone seemed to have a good time. Here are some pictures provided by Shawna:

The above picture is of Emma, her Gramma, and one of her older sisters and then Bernie is in the picture to the right.
Our playdates are going well this summer. Quite a few people have stepped up to fill in for folks on vacation. We have a pretty full schedule which helps with our expenses and sends kids to the workshop every year. The Washington Old time fiddlers is such a great organization to belong to. In my experience it’s the people who make it great. Thanks to all of you who spend their time making the days more enjoyable for the retirement residents in each facility where we play.
Our upcoming events are as follows:
- Sat, September 6th, meeting/jam from 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat. September 27th, circle jam from 1 pm to 4 pm
- Sat. October 4th, meeting/jam from 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat. October 25th, circle jam from 1 pm to 4 pm
- Sat November 1, meeting/jam from 11 am to 4 pm
If you need more information on any of these events, please look at the WOTFA.org site. Otherwise, email me and I’ll answer any questions you might have.
The WOTFA workshop will have come and gone by the time I write the next report. However I hope to have some pictures and a report from the people who attended it in the next newsletter.
Keep playing with others and find something to smile about every day.
