Greetings from District 5.  Time Marches on…. here comes the Spring Equinox, the first Day of Spring which is coincidentally also the International Day of Happiness as well as Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day and a spring forward into Daylight Savings Time.  Plenty of excuses to get together and celebrate and enjoy some tunes.  We’re playing Irish tunes and several of them are about that tasty spirit Whiskey- Farewell to Whiskey, Welcome Whiskey Back Again, Whiskey Before Breakfast, Whiskey Before Dinner and Whiskey in a Jar. We occasionally play Temperance Reel for a little balance!  Hope this finds you well and spreading some joy around.

District 5 is still jamming every Tuesday from 1-4.  1st and 3rd Tuesday jams at the Silverdale Mall from 1-4 (in the Community Room next to Dick’s Sporting Goods) and the 2nd, 4th and any 5th Tuesdays at the Subway in Silverdale on Bucklin Hill 1-4pm.  We always look forward to seeing old and new friends!  Some folks just stop by to listen.  Come join us and bring a friend.

It’s exciting that pretty soon we’ll be able to sign up for Fiddle Camp again.  Registration starts April 7th, get signed up early as some classes fill quickly!  Make sure your membership is current.  We are putting out the call for any youth interested in a camp scholarship to submit a letter to our District Chair Kent McCabe.  Our last district meeting to review any applications is the 3rd Saturday in May-May 17th which also happens to be World Fiddle Day!–so hustle up some youth to keep learning Old Time Music and let’s show them a good time!

Our March business meeting will NOT be on the 3rd Saturday at the square-dance hall as usual due to a scheduling conflict.  We will meet instead at Noon, TUESDAY MARCH 18TH at the Silverdale Mall in the Community Room before our regular jam from 1-4.
