Bluegrass Band on Behance

Flowers are blooming!  Birds are singing! While it’s still quite cool, the days are longer and we’re looking forward to more sunshine, Fiddle Camp and playing at Farmer’s Markets.  Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the District 5 Labor Day Weekend campout.  SAVE the DATE!

District 5 is still jamming every Tuesday from 1-4.  1st and 3rd Tuesday jams at the Silverdale Mall from 1-4 (in the Community Room next to Dick’s Sporting Goods) and the 2nd, 4th and any 5th Tuesdays at the Subway in Silverdale on Bucklin Hill 1-4pm.  In May, we will move those Subway Jams back to the Barn in Belfair at the Salmon Center~ 600 NE Roesel Rd.  The Barn provides shade and shelter but is not heated, so dress accordingly.  We keep meeting new folks, musicians and regular audience members.  Always a treat!   Come join us and bring a friend.

Our monthly business meeting will be at Kitsap Square Dance Association Hall on W Belfair Valley Rd April 19th from 11-3.  From 11-noon we jam without any written music just for fun, practice and skill building!  We find we know more than we thought!  Brief finger food lunch break and business meeting at noon is followed by more jamming (with music stands if you prefer!) until 3 pm.  April’s meeting will be devoted to hearing from any youth who might want to attend camp with a scholarship from our District.  A shout out to Kay McCarthy for encouraging local school children to learn more about fiddling and Old Time music!  Our last business meeting until September will be May 17th~which also happens to be World Fiddle Day!

Get signed up for Fiddle Camp!  Certain to be fun!
