Hi there! District 5 sends greetings and best wishes! April already…no Foolin’. We have April Fool’s Day, the Total Solar Eclipse and on April 10th it’s National Farm Animals Day. We’re working on a Chicken Set (Cluck Old Hen, Chicken Under the Washtub, Chicken Reel) and shall give some play time to Flop Eared Mule, Spotted Pony, Pig Ankle Rag, Turkey in the Straw and include Kerry Mills’ Barn Dance and Muckin’ o’ Geordies’ Byre for fun. Of course, the Cats and Dogs are part of many farms and we have quite a list of those tunes. Then there’s Sally Put a Bug on Me! Here’s to no more Cold Frosty Mornings. Hope you got your taxes in on time and celebrated Earth Day on the 22nd. The 29th will be International Dance Day–Celebrate. Of course, who needs one Day a year to Dance!
Our recent playouts include some St. Paddy Day tunes and we’ll switch them out as we head into the summer even though the residents like singing along to Drunken Sailor. Sharon’s harp playing of Danny Boy, Star of the County Down and Coleraine calms things down a bit and sounds so beautiful. Here we are at Stafford Suites.
We postponed Camp scholarship applications until our next monthly business meeting on April 20th since there is a little more time to register for camp. Be sure to sign up for Fiddle Camp. Fun times learning some new tunes and making new friends, and reconnecting with old ones. Bring a friend or two.
We’re Jamming every Tuesday, come join us. First and Third Tuesdays of each month next door to Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Silverdale Mall from 1-4pm. Through the end of April, we are meeting on all other Tuesdays 1-4 pm at Subway in Silverdale at 2238 NW Bucklin Hill. Plenty of parking and the community room there suits our needs. We head back to the Barn in Belfair in May for the summer Tuesdays that we are not at the mall. The Barn is located at 600 NE Roessel Rd, Belfair at the Salmon Center, a lovely setting. Dress for the weather, for while we are covered and protected from wind and weather, it can be chilly some days. We have a good turnout, have fun and welcome all comers. Join us!
Playouts scheduled:
- March 29 Fieldstone Communities in Silverdale
- April 9 Willows
- April 24 Crista Shores
