Our Dad, George E. Park (97), formally of Bremerton and now of Guemes Island, passed away on September 16th, 2021. He was born on March 27, 1924, in New Bedford, MA. He was a Quarter Master/Navigator serving on the USS Bunker Hill during WWII. George married Muriel Greene in 1948 and moved to the Pacific Northwest where they raised their family. Surviving family members include his brother Donald Park [Carla] of New Bedford, MA; three children Carol Park and Susan Gwost [Mike] of Guemes Island, WA, Russell Park [Linda] of Bremerton, WA; several nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held October 16th at 10am at the Guemes Island Cemetery with a memorial celebration to follow at the Bayview Civic Center at 2:30pm.

  1. Sarah Buntin says “The Memorial for our most senior member George Park 97 years old, was one he would have been proud! He was celebrated sent off to join other members we have lost over the last few years, by our WOTFA Fiddler’s send off, with music and song. We could almost hear them playing together for George as he arrived. Him singing I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill, Danny Boy and Angeline The Baker. He will be sorely missed and will always have a special place in our Memories and Hearts.”
