I want to start out by saying happy New Year to all of you, and at the same time, apologize that it has taken me this long to write one of these columns. I suppose I have suffered a mild case of writer’s block, and not knowing how to exactly sum up the thoughts swirling around my head regarding The WOTFA.
I’m exceptionally humbled to be able to write this post as President of an organization that has meant so much to me over the years. I want to thank Bill Crabtree for his leadership over the years, and all his many hours of dedication as webmaster. I am also so thankful for the numerous members past and present, who’ve supported me over the years. There are so many of you that deserve my gratitude.
I am excited for 2022. I am looking forward to resuming the activities that we all have been missing over the last two years, with Fiddle Camp being at the very top of my list. We are committed to hosting the event this year. If you haven’t taken the time to fill out the survey that was sent out last month, please take the time to do so. We are judging our potential class capacity based on the responses to this survey. It is anonymous and only takes a few minutes to complete. The resulting data will be invaluable to your workshop committee. You can find the survey by following this link: Fiddle Camp 2022 Survey
I know we are all trying to claw our way out into the world again. I for one, cannot wait until we can look at the covid pandemic in the rear-view mirror. We have a lot of work to do. WOTFA membership is the lowest it’s been in 20 years. For this reason, I am reaching out to you for help. We need to revitalize the organization and rebuild our membership base. I am looking to form an organizational steering committee composed of members of all ages and back grounds. I’d very much like to know where you want to see this organization go in the next 5, 10, and 15 years. The sky is the limit here. If you or any member of your family are interested in being part of the process. Please let me know via email.
Thanks, and Happy Fiddling
