Well everyone, welcome to 2022! It was an exciting December in District 6 leading up to the New Year.
Our Christmas party was a great success. We had a good group (as you can see better by clicking on the pictures).
The music was enjoyed by young and old.
Earl Dewitt is a favorite of everyone as he sets up for our meetings, is always cheerful and plays and sings wonderful cowboy songs. Thanks for all your work, Earl. We love you! Roy and Shirley Calvert also spend lots of time helping our district run smoothly. They’re the best!
The middle of December went as usual for most of us. That meant crazy days leading up to and through Christmas. Then, surprise: SNOW! However, it was good to stay home and rest except for the shoveling.
Then, back to the rain for January and SO MUCH RAIN! But, it was nice to have our meeting/jam on the 8th which had a fine turnout.
The picture shows Lea and little sister Emma in Lea’s sweatshirt. Lea has taken up violin again in her school orchestra and came to play with us. Emma tries to bow the tiny fiddle with us as we play. Thanks for coming to jam, Lia, Emma, and Shawna (mom) and also Cici, (not pictured). Hope to see you all again soon with big sister, Bella.
Two District 6 events are scheduled in February. First, our combo jam and meeting on Sat, Feb. 12th from 11m-4pm. These start with a circle jam, then a short meeting at 1pm, followed by lunch (bring your own), and more jamming if people are still interested.
The second event is a jam on Sat., Feb 26th from 12 – 4pm. No meeting, so lots of music. YAY!
In other news, Wilma Matz passed away at 97 yrs old on November 25. Many of our members remember good days of playing music with Doc, her late husband, and Wilma being such a great friend and audience.
Betty Bangs also passed away on Sun, Jan 9th. There will be no service now, but her family is hoping to have one in June. She was quite the gal in helping District 6 video the shows and other helpful things. She will be missed. Condolences to her family.
As you see from our remembrances, there is a place in our district for you even if you can’t play an instrument. Come join in the camaraderie in this new year.
Please let me know of any news you have to share and also if you have any questions. I’ll try to answer or find out.
Lastly, don’t just be safe, live life well!!!!
