Hi Everyone:
For the month of October here’s what we have going on for WOTFA District 9 and some other fun things in Lewis and Thurston Counties:
Friday, October 2nd. 11:00am-1:00pm- WORFA District 9 Open Acoustic Jam at our new location, Steamboat Landing, 115 Ramsey Way in downtown Toledo.
To find Steamboat Landing take I-5 to exit 63, then head East on Hwy 505 for about 3 miles. The road will take you into the town of Toledo, and at the only stoplight in town take a right. Steamboat Landing will be on your right.
There will be coffee and tea and some snacks but it won’t be a potluck.
* After the jam there is a free ‘Fiddlefest’ at Tradtions Cafe in Olympia as part of Art Walk Olympia*. More info is on the Traditions Cafe website under the events tab*
Wednesday, October 28th, 3:30pm-4:30pm SHARON CARE CENTER Playdate.
1509 Harrison Ave in the Skilled Dining Room. October playlist is below.
* * The Sharon Care Center Playdate will be changing to the 2nd Wednesday of the month in November and from then on will be on the 2nd Wednesday of each month * *
WAMA SLOW JAM resumes on Saturday, October 10th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Hope Grange, 120 Antrim Rd in Winlock. More information on their website wamamusic.com
The Juice Box Jam: Sunday, October 11th at 1:00pm at The Juice Box, 216 S. Tower Ave, Centralia. This month the format will be just a little different: Jam from 1:00-2:30, break 2:30-3:00, Jonathan (their caller) will give a short dance class at 2:45 and a one hour contradance will start at 3:00pm. I think they would love as many musicians as they can get to play for the dance.
Here’s the tune list for the dance, all in the key of D:
1. Camp Meeting On The 4th Of July + Soldiers Joy
2. Whiskey Before Breakfast + Needle Case
3. Sarah Armstrong’s + Juliann Johnson
4. Over The Waterfall + Liberty
