Here we go again with another September rolling around. Since District 6 takes a break from our meetings and jams in the summer, it is always exciting to get together again on the first Sat. of September. It is so fun to see and play music again with people we haven’t seen for 4 months.
The Smith family attended the workshop in Cashmere this year and had a great time as reported by Shawna. They were all in different classes. Bella (17) and Kristi (Shawna’s mom and Gramma) played in the contra band and Shawna (the mom of all the kids), Emma (6), and Cici (9) all took turns dancing. They then all participated in separate bands for the band scramble! We’re looking forward to hearing all the new songs they learned at camp. All in all, it sounds like they really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Here are a few photos that Shawna sent me:

We’ve had quite a few playdates this summer and had to shuffle some folks around because of vacations and such. Thanks to Bernie for organizing the whole schedule and helping people sign up. He does a lot of work on this as well as plays at as many dates as he can. Thanks again to all who donate their time and talents at these monthly events to make the audience happy. It seems both the musicians and audience enjoy the music. Here’s a picture that Shawna took at a playdate this summer.

Our District 6 upcoming events are as follows:
- Sat, September 6th, meeting/jam from 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat. September 27th, circle jam from 1 pm to 4 pm
- Sat. October 4th, meeting/jam from 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat. October 25th, circle jam from 1 pm to 4 pm
- Sat November 1, meeting/jam from 11 am to 4 pm
If you need more information on any of these events, please look at the WOTFA.org site. Otherwise, email me and I’ll answer any questions you might have.
Get going on the practicing you didn’t do over the summer or be proud of yourself if you spent the summer playing at festivals and playdates.
