Welcome to March. It’s lookin’ like spring might happen soon, but like usual, February was a real mixed bag. However, the birds and I get excited every time we have a hint of sunshine. At least the daylight hours are getting steadily longer. We can be grateful for that!
District 6 has been slowly acquiring more playdates to help with our bills and scholarship fund. Thanks to everyone for stepping up to play for the people at these retirement facilities. The audience and musicians alike are having a real good time. I’ve included some pictures of past playdates so you can see what they generally look like. Click on any of these pictures to enlarge them.
Our Feb. 4th meeting and jam was well attended. Bernie helped out with a couple of mandolin workshops. A couple of guys attended who are checking out our organization. We’re so glad they came and hope they continue. The picture below is of a recent jam.
As usual, on the last Saturday of February we had a circle jam which was a lot of fun. Since it was on the same weekend as Wintergrass, we had a smaller group. Everyone who came enjoyed playing quite a few songs and we even all sang together on a couple of songs. The following pictures are from this jam.
Many thanks to secretary Katie Gotshall for putting together a full color pamphlet to advertise the Washington Old Time Fiddlers organization. Let’s all do our part to put them in music stores and hand out to friends or anyone who might be interested. We will have some at our monthly jams that you can take for this purpose.
Come join us for one of our jams when you can. Check out WOTFA.org to find out when they are happening. They are listed on the calendar with all the relevant information.
Keep on with the music. It’s actually good for you. Contact me with any questions you have at timbuktoe@yahoo.com
Till next month…
