Hello everyone! It’s hard to believe that it’s already April! There are signs in my garden to show that spring is well on its way in spite of the coldish temperatures. Here are a couple of pictures to get your hopes up for warmer weather.
There isn’t too much to report for District 6, so this will be short. But, we had a couple of very enjoyable jams in March with good groups of people attending each time.
Our jam on the 18th was well attended and enjoyable with quite a few youngsters playing fiddle. We even had a tiny vocalist named Emma sing some songs she likes. It was also great to have Lia and her friend Elise play several songs on their violins. Of course, Shawna, the mom and Bella, the older sister played and added greatly to the enjoyment of everyone. Shawna took the following pictures and I’m so grateful to her.
Our last meeting/jam until September was held on April 1st. We all tried hard to get to this one and that’s no foolin’. I’ll include pictures in the May newsletter.
NEWS FLASH: Turns out our last jam until September was not our last. We voted to have 2 more jams (only jams, no meeting) on the first Saturdays of May and June. These will be held on May 6th and June 3rd and will be from 1 pm to 4 pm. Everyone is welcome.
Thanks to all our members who volunteer their time to play in the community at retirement and nursing homes. We have at least 3 dates scheduled every month which keeps us on our toes.
Also, our friend, Terry Huizenga (who brings her father Jack Hadfield to our jams) had knee replacement surgery in late March. We wish her a speedy recovery and encourage everyone to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.
Keep practicing, learning new things, and playing with others. Consider signing up for Fiddle Camp, which happens in July. Meanwhile happy April.
