Fall is in the air as evidenced by my patio being full of leaves.  Also, by Roy observing that this will be the last jam where we don’t have to wear coats out to our cars!  Enjoy, because this is a great season in the northwest.

Our play dates have been continuing into the fall with many members volunteering their time to play at small group homes and bigger retirement facilities.  Thanks to all who take time out of their busy schedules to make the days of our audiences a little brighter.  The following is a picture of our group at a home in the Renton Highlands.  We really enjoy playing for the residents once a month.

September was a good month for District 6 with two enjoyable jams.  On the 7th, we got together to jam, eat lunch, have a meeting and jam some more.  It was good to see everyone after our summer break.  We had quite a group.  Tyler, Bernie, and Ena held a good meeting and we appreciate the hard work and time they put in to keep our district functioning.

Our jam on the 28th was a good one as we had a fairly big group who were enthusiastic about jamming together.  We welcomed JoeAnn (on fiddle) and John (on banjo) who came for the first time.  We thoroughly enjoyed the way they played because they really added to the fun.  We hope they come again!  Here are a few pictures of this jam:

District 6 dates for the rest of the year:

  1. Sat, October 5th:  Meeting/Jam from 11 am to 4 pm.
  2. Sat, October 26th:  Circle jam from 1 pm to 4 pm.
  3. Sat November 2nd:  Meeting/Jam from 11 am to 4 pm.
  4. Sat, December 7th:  Christmas party from 11 am to 4 pm.

The WOTFA.org website has more information about our district events (and other ones in King County as well) in many different locations.  1.  On the home page is a section for events during that week.  If you click  on the event you want, it will show you more detailed  information.  2.  Another way to find events scheduled beyond that week is to go to the heading titled, Home.  This has a section that is titled, About Us, in which you can explore all about district 6 (and all the other districts as well).  3.  Lastly if you click on the heading on the home page that says Meetings and Events and go to calendar, it will show you a month’s worth of events for the whole state, including our district.  Thanks so much to Katie Gotshell for her work to try to make the website easier to use.  We appreciate you, Katie!

Lastly, October is membership renewal time.  It’s still so inexpensive at $25.00 for the first household member and only $5.00 more for each member from the same house.  Just click on the renewal information on the website home page and do it today.  This will even tell you how to renew by mail if you prefer.

Thanks for reading.  Enjoy the music.  Any questions or comments feel free to email me at timbuktoe@yahoo.com
