Happy days! It’s November already. These are good days to play music with your friends!
District 6 is doing well with jams scheduled twice a month through the winter except for November and December where we don’t have jams at the end of the month because of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone young, old, beginner, intermediate, and professional (as long as you are patient with us less good folks) is welcome to come to any jam when you are able. So come join us for the fun of playing music together!
Our meeting/jam on the first Saturday of October was really enjoyable. We had a good group and we were especially glad to have Michael Harris back. He always adds so much fun to our jams and the kids really enjoy the lively songs he chooses. We had a few people missing who have joined us in the past and we hope they can join us again sometime. Pictures below: (Take special note of Emma, who is 5, playing the fiddle for the first time and singing as well! Good job, Emma.) (The other kids are her sisters, Bella and Cici who both played new songs learned at fiddle camp for us.)
On Oct 26th, we had a nice circle jam. It was great to have Chuck, Miles, and Michael attending. They always bring enjoyable songs for us all to play and stretch us with new songs we had forgotten, but love as well. We enjoy having so many people to jam with because everyone brings something different to the table. We had several people missing because of different reasons, but we look forward to seeing them in the future! I have some pictures to share from this jam as well.
The schedule for the next few months is as follows:
- Sat., November 2: meeting/jam, 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat, December 7: Christmas party, 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat, Jan 4th: meeting/jam, 11 am to 4 pm
- Sat, Jan 25: circle jam, 1 pm to 4 pm
The WOTFA.org website has more information about our events. Be sure to look them up. Refer to the October newsletter for specific ways to find this information on the website.
Also, there is still time to join or renew your membership. It’s easy to find out how on the website as well.
Be happy playing music! Remember, if you practice, you will have more fun at the jams. Please email me at timbuktoe@yahoo.com with any questions or comments.
