I can tell that it’s time for the June newsletter because the gardens are starting to look good in our area. I’ve included an example which you can see better by clicking on the picture:
We are all missing our jams at the Mason’s hall in District 6 because we’re taking our usual four month break. However, we will resume in Sept. when there seems to be less competition for our time from vacations and other stuff that makes summers so busy.
The calendar for June is looking good with 3 playdates scheduled. It’s so nice to play music for folks in retirement homes. The musicians and audience both seem to enjoy themselves. Thanks to all the WOTFA members who are taking time to spread some cheer.
Our featured member this month is Kathy Peterson. She has been a musician and a District 6 member for many years, first with her husband and then continuing on her own after he died. I understand that they put together an extensive songbook for use in our fiddlers organization. Besides that, Kathy is a faithful attender of the twice monthly meetings and jams. She brings a good sound to our music when she plays her bass and introduces a variety of songs with her enjoyable fiddle playing. Everyone enjoys playing alongside her in our playdates and she is in much demand to accompany groups in our shows. Besides all that, she is always pitching in to help with whatever needs doing. Thanks, Kathy, for all you add to District 6! Click on the picture to see her great smile.
In other news, we will again be holding an election for District 6 Chair at our Oct. 8th meeting. Please be thinking about running for this position. Roy really wants to step down after all these years and let someone else take over. Anyone who is brave enough to try will be well supported. Roy reports that he and Shirley made a lot of close friends just by being involved in this way. There are many interesting and enjoyable people involved in WOTFA all over the state. It would be much appreciated by Roy if someone would give it a try. Please think about it. Any questions, or to run for the position, please contact Earl by the following email: earldewitt7@gmail.com
That’s all for this month. Keep playing music with your friends.
