Hello musical friends, October is upon us once again. Looking through the calendar for interesting special days in October, I find that October 1 is International Music Day. In 1974, the International Music Council established International Music Day, celebrated annually on October 1, to recognize the power of music to bring people together, promote cultural exchange, and inspire joy, inviting everyone to appreciate and enjoy music, regardless of whether they are musicians. Then October 18th is World Singing Day-promoting singing together from wherever you are. World Singing Day | Sing together. Unite the world. So, keep playing and spread your music everywhere, it is a joyful unifying power to be shared!
Our campout was LOTS of fun. Stuart Williams’ workshop was well attended, we played for the square dancers and shared meals and tunes and the weather cooperated. The blackberries were plentiful. Thanks to everyone who came and participated and helped out! Save the Date for next year-District 5 Labor Day Campout.

We played at Canterbury Manor on International Talk Like a Pirate Day, September 19th, dressed the part and ran through a few Sea shanties, Kent found a few good jokes and lots of “Arrrgh, maties” were uttered. So, ahoy, you scallywags, sing out to Drunken Sailor!

JAMMING EVERY TUESDAY 1-4pm! First and third Tuesdays are in Silverdale Mall in the community room next to Dick’s Sporting Goods. In October, we move back to the Subway in Silverdale -2238 NW Bucklin Hill Rd for the 2nd, 4th and any 5th Tuesdays. Stop by, bring a friend. We will resume meeting the third Saturday of every month from 11-3 at Kitsap Square Dance Hall in Bremerton at 6800 W Belfair Valley Road. We jam from 11-12 without music stands, break for finger foods and a business meeting and then continue jamming until 3 pm (with your music stand if you want). Come join us!
