Greetings Friends ~

District 5 had our  Workshop October 19th with Tania Opland and Mike Freeman and we enjoyed the 2 new Irish tunes they brought us, The Hag at the Churn and The Wise Maid.   It was good to meet the new folks who dropped in and to see friends from other Districts while we were entertained by stories of jamming in Ireland and lessons to be learned in style and protocol.   Thanks Tania and Mike! Fun time.

Farmers Markets have ceased for now but we are still busy jamming every Tuesday from 1-4 and at our playouts.  Our November business meeting will NOT be at the Square Dance Hall due to a scheduling conflict with the building, so we’ll meet early at the Silverdale Mall Jam at Noon on Tuesday November 19th to cover any necessary business.  Let Kent know if you have anything to add to the agenda.

In addition to our regular 1st and 3rd Tuesday jams at the Silverdale Mall from 1-4 (in the Community Room next to Dick’s Sporting Goods) we will meet for the winter on the 2nd, 4th and any 5th Tuesdays at the Subway in Silverdale on Bucklin Hill 1-4pm.  We’re jamming every Tuesday from 1-4 somewhere!  Do drop by!  We have a good time!

Playouts

  • Oct 30- Crista Shores
  • Nov 6- Clearbrook
  • Nov 22- Canterbury

At our October meeting, we unanimously voted to keep Kent as our Chair for District 5.  Bill will remain Vice-Chair, Sharon as Secretary and Bart as Treasurer.  Thanks to each of you for your commitment and contributions!  Once again, it’s worth noting that Kent shows up at all of our playouts carting sound equipment and sets us up to sound just fine.  He also records us and shares the recording so we can practice at home and hear how we sound.  THANK YOU, KENT!

Hopefully there were more Treats than Tricks for your Halloween.  Heading toward Thanksgiving in November, we wish you the bounty of good friends, family and yummy goodies during the dark quiet season of regeneration.  We can slow down, reflect and be present for ourselves and each other.  Many Blessings to You.

Gratitude is the Music of the heart, when it’s chords are swept by the breeze of Kindness~ unknown
