District 4 Report for October 2024
Dear Fiddlers,
Happy Post-Labor Day, everyone! As we look back on September, we’ve got plenty of music to report on! What a joy it was playing at the Sedro Woolley Senior Center and Life Care – great music, great food (thank you for the pork and mashed potatoes, Ellen!), and plenty of good company. A big thank you to everyone who made it to these play-outs, especially David, our sound man extraordinaire. Always adjusting, always improving—thank you!
Upcoming Meeting & Play-Out Spaces
Gary and I have been discussing plans for a brief meeting during the next play-out at the Sedro Woolley Senior Center to prepare for our October meeting at the Mount Vernon Senior Center. We’re also working on getting a bit more space for our musicians at Mountain Glen. Dwight will chat with the Activities team there to see what we can arrange. Stay tuned!
Highlights from Country Meadows & Creekside
We had a fantastic play-out at Country Meadows where 25 residents enjoyed tunes from Dwight, Rich, Greg, Jim, Mici, Ben, Nancy, and Danny, who both opened and closed with “Red Wing” on his harmonica. Well done, Danny! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 21st, for a special gathering at Danny’s to celebrate his 95th birthday. Potluck starts at 1:00 PM at 6414 N Fruitdale Rd, Sedro Woolley. We’re expecting a great turnout.
At Creekside, we had the pleasure of welcoming Gayle Clarity from the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers. Gayle, your beautiful fiddle playing really added a special touch, and we’re thrilled you’re looking to move to Mount Vernon! We look forward to more musical moments with you.
Looking Ahead
October is not just about more music—it’s also election time! We’ll need to fill key leadership positions like Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. If you’ve ever thought about stepping up, now’s your chance. Let’s also take some inspiration from past leaders like Chuck and Darlene Page, who ran meetings with a Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. Rich and Gary have experience, so let’s gather suggestions as we move toward October.
