Dear Fiddlers,

I hope this message finds you well! We’ve had a wonderful summer filled with music, community, and some truly memorable moments. Here’s a recap of our busy July and a look ahead at what’s coming in August.

July 2024 Recap

July was a packed month for the Old Time Fiddlers, with nine play-outs and two jams that kept us all on our toes. Each event was a testament to our shared love for music and the joy it brings to others. Here are a few highlights:

  • S/W Senior Center & Lynden Senior Center Play-outs: These events were very well-received, with heartfelt performances by Forrest, Mici, Jim, Ben, Denise, Bill, Wood, and Greg. Special thanks to David Stewart for his excellent work on sound adjustments, and to Judy Koetje for reminding us to sing a patriotic song—well done, everyone!
  • Lynden Senior Center: Diana and Rohxann, all the way from Darrington, joined us, showing incredible dedication by traveling nearly 100 miles. Despite a mix-up on my part (apologies, Rohxann!), the music was fantastic, thanks to Jim, Mici, Dwight, Graham, Barry, and David.
  • Mira Vista Nursing Home, S/W Senior Center, & La Conner Retirement Inn: Our performances here were nothing short of spectacular. We had 72 in the audience at La Conner, which is our largest crowd to date! Special guest Russell from England also joined us on guitar and vocals, adding an international flair to our music.
  • Country Meadows Play-out: Gary, Dwight, Rich, Greg, Forrest, Jim, Ben, Danny, and Steve delivered fantastic tunes, with Danny playing harmonica and singing throughout the set. 30 residents enjoyed a lively session, with Danny shining on harmonica and vocals. A special shoutout to Nancy and Judi for their continuous support and cheerleading. Mark your calendars for Danny’s 95th birthday celebration on September 21st at 6414 N Fruitdale Rd, Sedro Woolley—potluck starts at 1:00 PM!
  • Mountain Glen Play-out: This event saw 35 attendees enjoying the tunes, with Rich leading the charge on guitar and vocals. His new songs were a hit with the audience, who appreciated our efforts.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of these events, whether performing, organizing, or supporting. Your efforts bring so much joy to our audiences, and it’s noticed and appreciated by all.

Photo Album Project

A special thank you to Jay Morrison, our dedicated camera and photo fellow. Jay has been working diligently on updating our photo album and even set up a digital display for us to view. We’re looking for someone to assist Jay with labeling photos and getting them into our albums. If you’re interested, please let us know—this is an important project that helps us preserve our precious memories.
