There is some good news to report this month.  Trios Adult Day Care, where we hold our monthly District 12 business meeting, has given us the go ahead to meet again at their facility.  we have also attempted to contact the Knights of Columbus Hall about the prospects of resuming our monthly shows at the Hall.  For both of these activities, discussion among members is needed about protocols to be used at such gatherings.(e.g., vaccine status, restrictions, if any, on total number of attendees, the need for masks, social distancing, omitting food, State guidelines, etc).  Additionally, regarding the 2021 Fiddlecamp in Moses Lake, there remains a great deal of uncertainty about how this year’s camp will be presented, considering the lingering Covid pandemic and the status of opening guidelines from the State.  However, it will be of great assistance to planners at this time if members would submit names of kids under the age of 18 planning to go to fiddle camp and in pursuit of a youth scholarship.  Youth scholarships are for eligible WOTFA members only and will pay tuition for classes.  We are looking into whether meals for these District 12 youth attendees can be subsidized.  Please contact Daryl Wuennecke at (509-948-2955) if you would like your child or know of a child to be considered for a youth scholarship to the summer fiddle camp.

District 12 wishes to send our best wishes to Chuck Hathaway, who was hospitalized in mid-March.  We look forward to seeing Chuck again at any District 12 activities that materialize in the coming weeks, and wish him speedy recovery.

Get well wishes also go out to Jackie Tolman our good friend and bass player who unfortunately broke her hip, . We are wishing her a quick recovery and hope she will be able to join us again really soon.

District 12 was recently contacted by the son of a woman, a resident at one of the senior homes where District 12 has performed many times, who unfortunately passed away.   In memory of his mother, the son wished to make a cash donation to District 12, in appreciation for the enjoyment she received from hearing our performances.  It is stories such as this one that makes participating in the senior home performances so worthwhile and fulfilling.

Many thanks to Jim Harter and Joe Gunter for newsworthy contributions to this month’s newsletter.  Have a great month and keep playing!
