Hello again!  I’d first like to thank the people who emailed me with encouraging words after my first attempt at the newsletter.  You made my day better!

Our Oct 9th meeting and jam was great with the “regulars” being joined by some kids and adults we hadn’t seen recently.  We also welcomed a few people who came to listen.  It made a good group to jam with.  Thanks to you all for coming!

Roy Calvert was unanimously voted as King of the world again!  (Well, maybe only the chair of District 6.)  Thanks so much, Roy, for keeping our district alive with all your funny stories and hard work.  Bernus Turner is still continuing as treasurer and Jack Hadfield as secretary.  You guys are the BEST!

Our one November event is the meeting/jam on the 2nd Sat, (11/13) from 11am-4pm at the Des Moines Masonic Lodge.  Jam starts at 11am, breaking for a short meeting at 1pm, lunch (bring your own), and then more jamming till almost 4pm.  Come for as much or as little of it as you please.

Just a reminder to start practicing Christmas songs.  You know the ones:  Whiskey Before Christmas, Baby In The Straw, or Red Christmas Rag!  Our Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 11th at 11am-4pm, so note the date and plan to come.  More details in the next newsletter.

I reported in Oct. that Vivian Williams has been diagnosed with ALS.  We wish her well in this season of life and also want to thank her for teaching classes, jamming with us amateurs, and playing in our shows.  She’s always been so supportive of District 6 and we appreciate her.

Please remember these folks in your thoughts and prayers as they are all struggling with health issues:  Bettie Bangs, Shirley Calvert, and the Kimball family especially Amy.  We’re all rooting for you!

So, all that said, try to practice and enjoy the music a little every day and play with your friends.  It’s GOOD medicine.

Oh yeah, you could smile and laugh a little too!

till next time…
