I’m quite surprised to find that we haven’t featured any tunes by Turlough O’Carolan yet, or that if we have, I can’t find them. Sí Bheag Sí Mhór is one such tune, and one of my favorites. O’Carolan lived in late-17th/early-18th century Ireland, and over 200 of his compositions are known today. As his compositions were for harp, I really like they way they sound when played on banjo or guitar:

But I also really love the way this sounds on a low whistle:

I can’t play any of those, so fiddle it is! I didn’t include the Strum Machine chords in this month’s video because I wanted to slow the tempo at the end, and you can’t do that natively within Strum Machine (but you can do it later in an audio editing program, and then play along with that). These are the chords I used, though:
