SUMMARY:District 6 Christmas Party
DESCRIPTION:The District 6 Christmas party is held the first Saturday of December every year at the Mason’s hall in DesMoines\, Wa.  We get together to jam\, eat\, and enjoy each other’s company.  During the jam\, we play mostly Christmas songs\, but any song you pick will be accepted.  There are people of every musical ability and age.  Some people come just to sing or to listen to the music.  All are welcome.  The District provides a ham for the potluck and you are welcome to bring food to share\, although that is not required.  Doors open at 11 am and we eat as soon as most people have arrived. (usually around noon)  Otherwise\, we spend our time until 4 pm doing lots of jamming.

DESCRIPTION:The title says it all! – well\, most. \nThis is a friendly\, non-threatening\, circle-jam\, and a lot of fun.  Acoustic instrument players of all ages and levels welcomed\, as are listeners and (if we are lucky) dancers.  Singing\, sheet music and ear-learners all appreciated.  Business meeting is short and non-contentious.  We serve coffee and have cocoa and tea available; snacks are up to the participants. \n2nd and 4th Friday jams continue through the year\,   with the exceptions of Christmas Eve\, Christmas Day\, and  Thanksgiving.

SUMMARY:Lonesome Ace Stringband
DESCRIPTION:Masters of their trade\, The Lonesome Ace Stringband bring grit\, skill and abandon to Americana music\, bridging old-time\, bluegrass and folk traditions into a seamless hybrid of original material that is at once fresh and timeless. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe trio’s sound is anchored in the fiddle and clawhammer banjo of John Showman and Chris Coole. They are joined by a rotating cast of extraordinary upright bassists (including founding member Max Malone\, James Mceleney\, and Lotus Wight). The band moves freely between a sound so commanding it doesn’t seem like it should be coming from a stringband\, to a sparse fragility that draws the listener closer.  Whether singing about climate change\, modern love\, BBQ techniques or life’s inevitable existential crises\, the band cuts to the core. They can also turn and churn out a tune with so much verve that it will make your heart spin and set the dance floor swirling.

DESCRIPTION:We get together to jam\, learn\, eat\, socialize and have a meeting once a month.  All are welcome.  There is usually an opportunity to have a lesson on mandolin or guitar.  There are certain months that we bring a fiddle teacher in\, but not always.  Come anytime you like but note that we stop for the meeting at 1 pm and then eat lunch together after that. \nThe D6 meeting/jam is in September\, October\, November\, January\, February\, March\, and April only.\nNotice that we take a break in the late spring and summer.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our regular 1st Friday open acoustic jam and meeting on Friday\, September 6th from 10am-Noon at Faith Baptist Church\, located at 436 Coal Creek Rd in Chehalis\, just off I-5 exit 79.  To find the church\, take exit 79\, then head EAST.  Go LEFT on N. DESCRIPTION:Please join WOTFA District 9 for an impromptu acoustic jam happening on Thursday\, August 15th at 2:00pm at the Lewis County Historical Museum\, located at 599 NW Front Way in downtown Chehalis.\nTo find the museum take I-5 to exit 79\, then head EAST on Chamber Way. Take a RIGHT at the light on N National Ave go about 1/2 mile. The museum will be straight ahead of you. There is lots of parking in front of the museum with additional parking behind the building.\nThe jam will commence immediately following a brief ceremony at the museum to receive a 112 year old violin made by a C.L. Young of Chehalis in 1912 and being donated by it’s current owner\, Jim Corbett of Seattle.
