Most, if not all of you have been watching the news lately with concerns regarding the outbreak of the corona-virus or covid-19.  Please be assured that I am also monitoring the events that have taken place since the outbreak of this virus.

How does this effect the Washington Old Time Fiddlers and our planned events and playouts?  Most of our membership is in the “People at Risk” category which, according to the experts, identifies older adults over the age of 60.  People also with underlying medical issues and compromised immune systems are at a greater risk. To find out more about this click this link People at Risk.  A number of our fund raising activities involve senior care facilities.  Their concerns have prompted them to cancel any playouts or visitations that are not necessary.

Each district will need to decide for themselves whether or not to cancel a given event or playout.  It is recommended that district forgo any large gatherings and to avoid close social contact.  There is no definitive answer to how long the virus will last.  Just keep watching the news and the progress of our medical community is making.

As for Fiddlecamp/Workshop, we are scheduled to start registrations on April 6, 2020.  Registrations for the workshop will continue as planned for now.  A decision for cancellation will not be made until at least May 1st.  This is not an easy task.  There are many things to be considered.  Please if you planned to attend fiddle camp this year, continue with your plans for now.  Complete your registration as you normally would.  Full refunds will be issued to all registered students if we need to cancel.  A large part of the decision will be based on the number of registrations we receive between April 6th and May 1st.

Most importantly, we all need to stay safe.
